Application components

The YYGS-Singapore staff reviews all applications holistically. Our staff understands that students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and with different educational and extracurricular opportunities. Thus, there are no minimum grade or standardized exam score requirements for YYGS-Singapore. However, a high level of English-language proficiency is expected.

The YYGS-Singapore application requires:

  • Resume/CV or Activities List

  • Official School Transcript - The transcript or school report should list all grades for courses taken at the school you currently attend and be submitted through a link that will be provided via email.

  • Student Evaluation Form - The evaluation form must be written and submitted by someone who knows the applicant well, which may include a teacher, school official, club leader, or work supervisor. The student evaluation form should be submitted through a link that will be provided via email.

  • One 500-word personal essay, one short 200-word response

  • Unofficial Standardized Test Scores, if available (these are not required)

For International students attending school OUTSIDE the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, or Singapore, we strongly recommend submitting at least one English proficiency test score such as the TOEFLPTEor IELTS.

The application fee for 2016 is $55, and is payable online after the application is submitted.
YYGS-Singapore will waive the application fee if it would constitute a significant financial burden for the student’s family. The application fee waiver form must be submitted with the financial aid portion of the application.

Applicants will be notified electronically of admissions decisions in March. For students requiring a visa to travel to Singapore, the YYGS-Singapore Program will provide an invitation letter. It is the responsibility of admitted students to obtain the appropriate visa to travel to Singapore.
